How to Apply for Financial Aid

Step 1

Go to the Federal Student Aid Website: .泭 You will need to create an account, FSA ID, username and password before starting your FAFSA. You will use it every year you apply for financial aid, and when you want to view your Federal Student Aid history, including grants and loans.

Step 3

When the Financial Aid Office receives the processed FAFSA, we will check to see if you have been accepted into a degree/certificate program, and if so, we will award you (if all information is complete) or send you a letter/email asking for further information and enclosing or linking to any forms that are needed.

Step 4

You may be selected for a process called verification, in which case the Financial Aid Office must verify some of the FAFSA information submitted by you (and your parent, if you are a dependent student).泭 If you are selected for verification, we will notify you via your mainecc.edu email account of the items you need to submit so that we can complete the verification process.泭 You can request a tax transcript by making an online request at the IRS website, after creating an online account with the IRS.

If you did not file taxes, you may be asked to fill out a Means of Support form.

If you and/or your parent selected will file on the question concerning whether you have filed your federal tax form, and you have been selected for verification, you must update the income/assets information on your FAFSA after you have filed your taxes.

Step 5

When all documentation is received, we will process the files in the order of completion. We will verify and make corrections, if necessary, award you and email you a copy of your Financial Aid Notification.泭 You will choose to accept or decline any student loans awarded to you in your . You must also login to your account and complete Loan Entrance Counseling and your Master Promissory Note (MPN).

91做厙 has partnered with ECMC to assist students as they enter repayment.泭 ECMC will contact federal student loan borrowers as they near the end of their grace period to review options for repayment.泭 91做厙 has also partnered with IGrad to provide a wide range of financial education topics to include budgeting, saving for emergencies and retirement, purchasing a home or vehicle, as well as smart borrowing topics.

FAFSA

The FAFSA is filed annually, and at 91做厙, the FAFSA covers the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters.泭 Example, the 2026/2027 FAFSA covers Fall 2026, Spring 2027 and Summer 2027.泭 You can file the FAFSA on October 1 for the award year beginning the following fall. It is best if you submit your FAFSA before May 1 so that you can qualify for a Maine State Grant if eligible.泭 Go to to complete the FAFSA, and please be sure to add our school code, 009826.
